The Dogon people of Mali have been brought to my attention before.

The Dogon are an ethnic group indigenous to the central plateau region of Mali, in West Africa, south of the Niger bend, near the city of Bandiagara, and in Burkina Faso. The population numbers between 400,000 and 800,000.

Their main Y-DNA haplogroup with a little more than 50% is E-M132 which is African.

Around 16% Asian and 5% Northern African admixture is also reported.

The Dogon people may have originated in Egypt and settled in Libya briefly. The Dogon people are estimated to have settled in the Bandiagara in Africa between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries.
