At least this is the claim made by the Australian Red Cross explaining why there is a current blood shortage.

Companies worldwide are participating in the campaign to get more people to donate. M c D n lds still has to follow suit though (as of at the time of this post being made).

Are there any statistics that you consider credible regarding how many people have gotten HIV or other infectious diseases due to getting a tattoe?

    I have not seen statistics but will look to see if there are any . It obviously depends where you have tattoos done . Tattoo shops are now more professional and use gloves disposable needles and have sterilization units for the gun etc . But if for example tattoos are done in prison or at home there will be risks . Its a problem even if you are sure the tattoo was done in the most sterile way how can you prove it .
