The most notable effect that years of touring have had is the almost complete removal of the guitar’s original sunburst finish, helped by Gallagher’s unusually acidic sweat, due to Gallagher’s rare blood type.
Rory Gallagher was blood type AB negative. He also abused various substances heavily. Many have suspected a connection between his rare blood type and his sweat being acidic.
Here is an older article of mine:
Ammonia smell when sick
It has been established that rh negative individuals lack the protein functioning as gas channels also responsible for ridding our bodies of toxins.
Hello,
I can at least confirm, that my sweat makes the strings of my guitar black and/or rusty.
A band member always was stunned, what I have done to them.
And my sweat has an unusual smell, when sick.
Also have a missing protein, but don’t know exactly what. It was found out, as I had to use heavy painkiller (morphine) and they didn’t work at all. If, I have to use morphine that gets activated with water, so to say. (hydromorphin)
