Are you an Rh negative mother with an Rh positive mother?
If the answer is “yes” (and only if the answer is “yes”), I am curious about a few things :
If you have some answers, please share them. If you don’t, don’t worry about it.
If you do, please answer to the best of your abilities and recollection:
- Did you have antibodies before your first pregnancy or miscarriage?
- How often have you miscarried before/after/between pregnancies?
- Which of your children are Rh(D)+/Rh(D)-?
- What is/are the blood type(s) of the father (s)?
- What types of experiences stand out related to your pregnancy/pregnancies that you have previously not heard/seen/read mentioned?
Thank you in advance for your time and help!
That is a great question! Unfortunately Im not a mother and I have always asked that question. My mom is RH positive and I was born RH – . But I did receive a blood transfusion as my body or blood was contaminated with my moms blood type when born. Therefore I have always wondered if I created antibodies since that moment… Without been pregnant ever. Looking forward to read mothers experiences.
Ok, I am A – … my mom has O – , my father had A- I got into dna and research a little because I’m a Registered Nurse.
I personally have some uncommon markers in my blood type… so I went reading up on it. My mom is O-, my father was A – .
I have 2 sisters … One O -, the other A-.
I have 2 brothers …. One O- and the other A-…
What I found out was that there are actually about 36different types of blood… They are kind of like sub types..of the main blood types… Everyone isn’t just straight Negative…. or straight Positive…
It is more like this A- +…. or A ++, or A- -….
Plus a bunch of little markers that u either have… or are missing… that further take u out into even more specific rare things like RH Null blood type….
Even if u have 2 RH – parents… u have about a 25% chance of being Born RH -.
Just like an AB + and an AB+ could produce children with A-, A+, B-, B +, or AB + or AB -…
Just depends on how the markers combine and what is dominant.
My understanding… is that it sounds much more complicated than you think….
It will be interesting to see what COVID 19 will do to the genetic mutations in antibodies … we may have strange new blood type markers that pop up later.
Sorry, I miss typed…
If both parents have negative blood types… it 25 % of having a + child.
I’m a negative mother, with a positive mom. My maternal grandmother was negative also. I have 2 kids, both positive. My husband is also positive. I’ve had no miscarriages and they did not even offer Rhogam with my first pregnancy (1985). My second pregnancy (1987) I got rhogam and all they said was it’s to prevent miscarriage of the baby I was carrying. Just a note, my grandmother had 6 children, I believe all positive, before Rhogam was even invented.
My Father, Mother, and my brother are all A+. No one in our families recalls ever knowing of a prior relative being of negative blood type. Yet, I am an A- .
I did not have antibodies (from my positive mother) before my first pregnancy.
My first pregnancy was a miserable 10 month pregnancy, and I vomited every single morning, from conception to birth. I never felt like myself, everything about my appearance changed, I felt like this child’s DNA was not a good match for me. It was so strange to feel like “only a host” during this pregnancy. I felt removed and detached from my own self–it was so strange to feel like this because I am an emotional, intuitive, grounded empath. This first child was born B+ (his Father is B+). I received a Rhogam injection post-partum. I find that the B blood group is not a good match for me. We are too different in too many ways.
I waited 13 years to conceive my next child, and miscarried at 16 weeks gestation (her Father was A+). I received a Rhogam injection after this loss.
Within 60 days of the miscarriage, I was pregnant with our 2nd child. This child was wonderfully easy and a delight to carry. He was born A+ (his Father was A+). I received a Rhogam injection post-partum.
IN MY EXPERIENCE:
I am a very healthy, fertile woman, as was my (positive) mother. As far back as we could trace, there is no history of miscarriages. I mention this because I believe that Rhogam, like other vaccines (tetanus, whooping cough, measles, etc) has a limited time-span life. Most vaccines are only active in the body for 10 years (in the U. S.). And then you need to receive another injection to re-boost the protection within your body.
I believe that the Rhogam injection I received after my first child was born, wore off after 10 years. And when I conceived after waiting 13 years, the Rhogam left in my body was not strong enough to protect the next fetus. Hence my miscarriage at 16 weeks with her. Yet, as soon as I received a fresh Rhogam injection after losing her, within 60 days I was pregnant again, and had no problem carrying and delivering that child to full term.
If you choose to wait more than 10 years in between pregnancies like I did, I recommend asking your doctor for a booster Rhogam injection PRIOR to conception to ensure your body has enough active Rhogam protection to help safeguard the new fetus.
Love and Light to you, my Tribe!
I am B- and my daughter is AB +
I had toxemia and she was born 5 and a half weeks premature. Weight of 2.14 lbs. They told me her blood has having problems with mine. She’s now 42. My only child.
I am A Negative mother and both my parents were Rh Positive – my mother A Positive.
1. My first pregnancy in 1988 didn’t have significant issue and my son had no health issues. During all three pregnancies, I was sick ALL THE TIME. Didn’t like being pregnant
2. I have no miscarried, that I know
3. I have 3 children, all A Positive.
4. The father is A Positive
5. My last pregnancy I had Lyme disease and my body did not produce antibodies
Hey Mike,
I am not a mother sorry. But I am interested in all this, as a medical scientist. I was born O neg, to a O pos father and A pos mother (thought I was switched at birth at first when I found out at age 30, it would explain a lot!). I was born in early 1970s premature by caesarian. I was born yellow/ jaundiced. I have wondered if this is a common problem with neg babies born to pos mothers? They really should tell Rh neg women their blood type early on so they can plan their relationships./ pregnancies…
Best wishes, JC
ps – my condolences to anyone else who is the only Rh neg in their family 🙂
I’m rhesus neg. Both my parents are rhesus positive. My Mum had no issues while pregnant with me or my sister who is also rhesus negative. My Grandma on my maternal side was rhesus negative. She had no difficulty with her first pregnancy my mum however she had 4 children after that and they all had to full body blood transfusions at birth. Presumably they where all positive aswell.
I have had several miscarriages before having my son. He is rhesus negative. His father is positive. I had severe sickness throughout my pregnancy, had a c section and despite being overdue he was only 5 pounds. They couldn’t explain it. He didn’t look like he’d been thriving. He Spent 2wks in the special care unit.
I am from a positive mother, but I am Rh-. My son is positive! There were no miscarriages, had a vaccine after the birth of my son.
A- my mother was 0+ and my biological father is A+ (DNA proven).
Husband A- from an O+ mother and an O- father.
Eldest son O-. Younger son A-.
Both pregnancies very hard. Four months complete bedrest to carry pregnancy to term. Had preeclampsia and toxemia during labor. Both my son and I almost died.
Second pregnancy 5 months of complete bed rest. Difficult labor and delivery but they were better prepared. Both babies delivered successfully.
If both parents are RH + and you are negative… Then does that mean that something in your DNA triggered that mutation? Im RH – but inherited from my father… Some one in our ancestors must have had that special gene that triggered the mutation… So perhaps scientists should be studying not the RH – itself but what triggers the change?
Hi Adriana,
I had found out years ago that the most common blood typing test only test the dominant gene the top gene and that is the one they use for blood bank donations, emergencies and etc. This is an expensive test to do. However, the recessive gene is the bottom gene and the bottom gene test is more expensive and I’ve heard and read that they do this test when blood typing for an organ transplant, they need to know the top and the bottom gene.
With this said, I have been told that this is the reason that a person can be Rh negative and be born from both DNA positive parents because more than likely one or both parent’s carry a recessive gene is negative that they would have inherited from their parents.
Mother O+, father A-, me O-
Did you have antibodies before your first pregnancy or miscarriage? No

I am A- .
My mother was Rh- and had nine miscarriages before I was born.
She would carry the fetus until the 5th month & then miscarry, except for one baby that made it full term & then died in her womb.
Her first husband was Rh+, I have no way of knowing exact type.
My dad was O-, I believe.
My only child was a boy, Rh+ (I think B+) and I received a Rhogam shot.
I felt severely nauseated to the point of being hardly able to function (but no actual vomiting) the entire pregnancy except for the sixth month. I didn’t have complications per se, but did gain about 75 lbs during the pregnancy. I lost almost 60 lbs in the first six weeks after giving birth and the rest within a few months. (I have found a lot of it as I have aged 😉 I am past child-bearing age now.
My mother’s DNA was almost 100% Irish/Welsh/Western European; My father’s mother was 100% Irish & his father was 100% Ashkenazi Jewish (son of a Rabbi.)
I am O Neg and mother is O Pos. Not sure about father.
Did you have antibodies before your first pregnancy or miscarriage? Did not have shot until after a miscarriage and then delivery of first healthy Neg baby.

What is/are the blood type(s) of the father (s)? Not sure
What types of experiences stand out related to your pregnancy/pregnancies that you have previously not heard/seen/read mentioned? Lots of fainting and sickness, but I believe is due to my distaste for eating meat. Easy deliveries, last son delivered in 45 minutes.
I am A –
My mother 0+
My father and 2 of his sisters out of 7 siblings also A-
Did you have antibodies before your first pregnancy or miscarriage? – No

What is/are the blood type(s) of the father (s)? O+
What types of experiences stand out related to your pregnancy/pregnancies that you have previously not heard/seen/read mentioned?
The miscarriages were very unexplained no sign of miscarriage, the babies just stopped developing at around 7/8 weeks in the womb. I’ve had pretty normal pregnancies just feeling sick etc.
I am A- sorry.
I am A-, while my mother is A+.
Did you have antibodies before your first pregnancy or miscarriage? – possible, maybe why I miscarried my first…
How often have you miscarried before/after/between pregnancies? Once (first one at age 32); went on to have 2 births after.
Which of your children are Rh(D)+/Rh(D)-? Oldest birth child, son (8), AB+; second, son (2), B-
What is/are the blood type(s) of the father (s)? B+
What types of experiences stand out related to your pregnancy/pregnancies that you have previously not heard/seen/read mentioned?
Light bleeding during pregnancies (terrifying esp. after the miscarriage); a lot of weight gain even when tried to eat healthy and exercise (sons came out with healthy weight so maybe they needed it!); breastfeeding issues (lack of milk); terrible back labor with first birth, and son came out with bruise on top of head (38 wks); second birth child has Down Syndrome with congenital heart issues and mild bleeding in brain (beautiful and smart toddler now), easy/quick birth, 36.5 wks (slightly preterm).
RhoGAM shot after miscarriage, during and after second pregnancy, and during 3rd (but not after, because he is RH-, too!).
I am A RH- both my parents were RH+. My brother is RH+. Unknown blood type but assume it to be A. I had three children in 2 years. (only 11 months between 2nd & 3rd). All of my children were born early.
I had no antibodies before my first child (RH+). I had Rhesus jab after birth of first child. My second child ( RH+) was born with jaundice. I had another Rhesus jab. My third child (RH+) had a threatened miscarriage at 6 months but ended up having her at home no problems except developed pneumonia at 6 weeks old. All over 50 years of age now with 6 children of their own with one RH-. ( I also have a RH- great-grandchild – his mother was also RH-)
Me: Rh-, Mother: Rh+, Father: Rh-.
1. Possibly…Miscarried one of twins. Healthy Rh- child born.
2. Just the one above that I know of
3. First child Rh- second child Rh+
4. Children’s father Rh+ (from a Rh- father and Rh+ mother)
5. Had no idea I was pregnant until 23 weeks. I had miscarried (twin)15 weeks earlier so didn’t question lack of periods. Anaemic. Strong and sometimes odd cravings. Easy pregnancies. Both babies born large.
Hi Mike,
Mom B+, Dad 0+, Me 0-
Did you have antibodies before your first pregnancy or miscarriage? No
How often have you miscarried before/after/between pregnancies? Once(No children)
Which of your children are Rh(D)+/Rh(D)-? –
What is/are the blood type(s) of the father (s)? ?+
What types of experiences stand out related to your pregnancy/pregnancies that you have previously not heard/seen/read mentioned? Ive bled so much all doctors were in shock and rushed whole staff to help, i was out for a couple of hours from blood loss.
Mike:
Great pertinent questions. The answers confirm that there is a need to look at the inheritance patterns of Rh -. using the latest genomic analysis tools that can distinguish the many different sub-types types of Rh-. The theoretical work on the genetic inheritance patterns has been done, but needs more research at the family level.
My mother is positive and I am A-. The interesting part is that both of my parents say they are positive but I am definitely A-.
1. I did not have antibodies before my first pregnancy.
2. I miscarried 2x prior to my daughter being born (who is also negative). I did have issues with both of my 2 live birth pregnancies that involved the placenta trying to tear away and abort. I also received the Rhogam shot after my 2nd miscarriage and also at the 20 week mark with both live pregnancies.
3. Both of my children are RH-
4. My husband is O+
5. Pregnancy seemed to be extra hard for me. I could get pregnant very easily but struggled every time to remain pregnant.
I’m A- my Mother was O+ to the best of my knowledge. My father Wasn’t allowed in my life growing up so I’m not sure.
I had 4 pregnancy’s first one I gave both to in 1988
Then 1991,1994,1996
They gave me 3 Rhogam shots per pregnancy.
I was never asked the blood type of the father’s they just told me my babies would die or I would have a miscarriage if I didn’t have the shot.
All 4 pregnancy’s were full term and Rh + .
I feel that the shot has something to do with that. I feel that the shot affected my children in strange ways. I want to know why they didn’t ask or check the blood type of the father’s. I may not have needed the shots. I have been researching for 15 years and I cannot find anything on Rhogam effects on the Mother. The thermosil murcury and anouther chemical was removed from the injection in 2000.
Thank you Mike for all your work and care, you are appreciated
Hi Mike, I am A negative and my mom is B positive; dad was A positive. (They each carry recessive Rh negative)
Did you have antibodies before your first pregnancy or miscarriage? I did not have any shots and was planning a natural home birth with a midwife so did not know I was Rh negative at the time.
How often have you miscarried before/after/between pregnancies? No.
Which of your children are Rh(D)+/Rh(D)-? They were both O positive
What is/are the blood type(s) of the father (s)? He was O positive.
What types of experiences stand out related to your pregnancy/pregnancies that you have previously not heard/seen/read mentioned? Three days labor both times. First child had meconium in fluid and needed oxygen at birth. I died during c-section for second birth. Had a near-death experience. Second child experienced jaundice and had to be treated for more than a week in the hospital.
I am an A negative mother. My mother is A positive.
Did you have antibodies before your first pregnancy or miscarriage? two pregnancies and was given Rhogam shot with both.
How often have you miscarried before/after/between pregnancies? no miscarriages
Which of your children are Rh(D)+/Rh(D)-? I do not know there blood types
What is/are the blood type(s) of the father (s)? A positive
What types of experiences stand out related to your pregnancy/pregnancies that you have previously not heard/seen/read mentioned? With both pregnancies my progesterone levels were too low and were not going up the way they should. I was given progesterone supplement. First pregnancy was induced and I believe that caused the prolapsed cord. He was an emergency s-section. My placenta was also infected. My second was a planned c-section. No complications.
Hello, I am a- blood type. I have one son that is o+. My dad is a- my mother is a+. I had the shot before delivery. I gained 75 # lost within a month due to nursing, my son weighed 9# 4 oz. I was 2 weeks late and had to be induced. Was in full blown labor when I got to hospital unbeknownst to me, I thought my son was just kicking as normal. Was in labor 26 hours, my son went into distress 24 hours into labor and the nurse paged the Dr. For 2 hours. They were rushing my into an emergency c-section with a paged intern on the way to perform and my dr. Came walking down the hall while they were taking me to surgery. Morphine had not kicked in before the dr. Cut me open, my son was stuck, anesthesiologist had to come over my head to help push him out. They got him out and I was hoping to hold him but the nurse said she would take him from the dr. He said he would and all I saw was a purple baby being ran out of the or. I kept asking what was going on and no one would say anything. About 5 minutes later I here my son cry and everyone in the OR sighed a sigh of relief and said those sound like healthy lungs. Thankfully my son did not have any complications.
No antibodies, I do not have a confirmed miscarriage but believe I had one between my first and second children, all five of my bio children O- , my husband is also O-. Both of my mother O+, my father O+. My pregnancies were all fairly easy. I did have a couple of difficult deliveries.
how is it possible for someone to be Rh Negative if both parents are Rh Positive? I thought the Rh factor came from one of the parents.
Both your parents carried the recessive RH- gene (along with a RH positive copy), and you received that negative copy from each of them. That’s the only way it could have happened.
RH positive is considered the dominant gene therefore if you have even one, that is what you are considered, RH+, even if you carry a recessive RH- gene. In order to be considered RH-, you would have two copies of the RH- gene and no RH+ gene present. Everybody has only two of these RH genes, one given from the father and one given from the mother.
Yes, I am an Rh Neg mother with an Rh Positive mother.
1. No antibodies with my first two as the Rhogam shot had not been invented… but did have it with my third child which was a plaecenta previa pregnancy….. and with my fourth child…
2. I’ve had three miscarriages…one before my first child and one after my second child and one after my
third child.
3.Only my third child (a boy)was Rh Neg …all others (girls) are Rh Positive
4. Father’s blood types ( 3 marriages) O+, B+, A+
5. Most of my pregnancies were uneventful…first miscarriage was sudden and early, second and third miscarriages were second trimester…. suddenly no movement and no heartbeat….(which was unusual) Third pregnancy was a full placenta previa and of course a C-Section…. fourth pregnancy was fine with scheduled C-Section because doctor wanted safety first.
It was kind of difficult getting pregnant at first but after taking birth control and then stopping… it was very easy for me to get pregnant.
My first daughter has been diagnosed with CLL recently and I do wonder if that could be a side effect of our Rh Factors not matching. Her second daughter (my grand daughter) was typed A+ at birth but now has been typed A- during her third pregnancy.
Just wondering if this is odd or not…. my grand daughter’s parents are both Rh Positive, but both grand mothers are Rh Negative.
I am type A- my mother was A+ and her mother was O-. I have 3 children only one I know for sure is A- because his father and I shared the same blood type. I have had 2 miscarriages both times the father was Rh positive. I also got really sick when I was given the Rhogam shot with my last child my daughter. I am not sure if this was due to her RH factor or what. I had the shot with my other son and did not experience the illness I did when I took it last. I did not take the shot with my second son since his father was RH negative. They actually wanted to give it to me anyway in case he was mistaken and he threw a fit, went and got lab work down and brought the results to my Dr who seemed determined to give me the shot regardless if I needed it or not. My type O negative maternal grandmother had six healthy children before RhoGam. Her husband was RH positive and the doctor’s told her she would never be able to have a full term healthy pregnancy after her first child. They were wrong. My mother being Rh positive had two children, I am the eldest and Rh negative my brother is RH positive and we are as different as night and day. I suspect my Paternal great grandmother was perhaps Rh negative because there were so many infant deaths, and the Rh negative runs on my dads side of the family as well as I have a few cousins that are RH negative. All of us are fair skin but do tan due to Native American Cherokee heritage. We do all have a blonde hair with a red tint and green/blue color changing eyes. All three of my children also have these traits. My parents also have these traits. I am assuming because both carried a negative allele which they passed to me. I haven’t done DNA but have researched my ancestry as far back as possible and know I have English, Irish, German, and Native American heritage.
‘wow,. all same as you. wow.
I am O negative, my mom B+ and my father O +
I think my grandmother was O –
1 I don’t think so.
2 More than once just not consciously pregnant, afterwards I think I must have been pregnant without knowing.
3 I have one child and my child is A +
4 A+
5 I gained 35 kilos and only lost 10 later after pregnancy, i did not eat more or something
I get pregnant very easy
Hello,
I am Rh negative mother (A-), born to Rh negative mother (A+), my father is 0(+), my younger siblings are A+. With my husband B+, we have 4 kids (all born within 6 years), all of them AB, RH negative. I have never had misscarage, everything went well during the pregnancy or labor. No antibodies during pregnancies.
1. No
2. I had one miscarriage with my second pregnancy. It was fetal demise at 14 weeks with no explanation. I had an antibody titer done following and still had no antibodies.
3. All 3 of my living children are Rh positive.
4. I don’t know the blood type of the father of my older 2 children, but the father of my youngest is 0 positive.
5. I chose not to have the RhoGAM injection. I still did not develop antibodies.
I’m O-, mom O+, not sure about dad, but mom’s second child had severe brain damage and jaundice at birth from what I was told was an AB/O conflict (this was 1963). I was told he was AB, but that’s not possible (not sure if we had the same father). I have one other sister, blood type unknown.
I had one abortion 1982, after severe hyperemesis. No shot as far as I can remember, but I could be wrong.
My husband is O+. We have two boys, both O+. I had both shots (28 weeks and postpartum). I don’t think they ever checked for antibodies. Just mentioning the possibility of my brother was enough for me to line up for the shots.
First son was Caesarean, placenta previa. Otherwise healthy.
Second son was anoxic briefly after VBAC, complex syndactly and clubfoot, and suspected Grp B Strep infection. Don’t think his blood type had much to do with it
My mother and father are A+.
I’m O-, my brother is O+, my fraternal twin sister is A+.
My husband is A-.
1. I don’t think I was tested for antibodies before my pregnancies.
2. No trouble getting pregnant. First pregnancy miscarried very early. Second might have been fraternal twins (just bc of hormone levels) but bleeding happened early and I always wondered if my daughter had a twin. They almost insisted on giving me Rhogam when I miscarried the first pregnancy but I refused because I knew my husband was Rh negative.
3. Both children O-.
4. A-
5. Cord issues with both children – velamentous cord insertion, 2-vessel cord. Slight placenta previa with one. One child has smaller rt. kidney. Both had mild coarctation of aorta when infants but grew out of it.
My mom is RH positive, either A or B (I can’t remember). I am A-, my husband is B+ and our child is AB-. We had one “missed” miscarriage before our child was born (heart stopped at about 6-10 wks) and I don’t know if I had any antibodies prior to that. I did receive a Rhogam(?) shot. I also bled a fair amount at around 7 weeks with my daughter and was convinced I was having another miscarriage, but apparently not. Thank
Goodness!!
Healthy pregnancy, delivered at 41 weeks and size was average except for her 99th percentile head!
My mother was B+ and maternal grandmother was also B+. Maternal grandfather Norwegian O- and paternal father presumed a Negative as grandmother was Celtic royal lines. Both daughters are + as was their father. I have twin grandchildren, a boy and girl. My grandson also is 99% head size. I was worried for awhile. He is 8 and fine.
Both my mother and father are rh +:
1. No (miscarriage).
2. 4 miscarriages followed by one live birth.
3. One child – who is rh –
4. O+
5. We completed the quad screen and NIPT for all pregnancies – all tests came back normal. Following my second and third miscarriage, we submitted tissue for karyotyping – both samples came back negative for genetic abnormalities. Amniocentesis was done on the third miscarriage (results came back normal). We then performed whole exome sequencing on tissue from both fetuses, no anomalies were identified. Specialists determined that my husband and/or I possessed an unidentified genetic mutation that was responsible for the structural abnormalities found in each pregnancy, and subsequent losses. After the fourth miscarriage, the fifth pregnancy was successful as the structural abnormality was not present. They submitted the placenta for additional testing because it was “unique”, but all tests came back negative.
We still do not have an answer to why there are issues. It has been attributed to an unidentified recessive genetic mutation (I was told there are over 20,000 genes and “we” only understand 400 of them). There no medical/environmental issues identified either, so it’s a mystery.
I am b-. Mother is ab+, father b+. As far as i know im the only rh neg in my family. I do suspect my maternal grandmother may be rh neg as she has a few traits. Mothers side is Czech, Fathers side is German. I had no idea of the of importance pos and neg blood types, until well after my 3 children were born. Im slow with computers as they frustrate me. Cannot wear a watch even. It s a challenge. Children purchased a small computer for me to watch youtube videos on. Thats when i shockingly discovered these stories or similiar to mine.1st baby boy born premature with Rhogam and jaundice at 4 lbs 14 oz. 2nd fraternal twins. Lost one then Rhogam on bed rest. Baby girl 7lbs 1 oz. Slightly early. 3rd a baby boy with Rhgam complete bed rest born on time 8lbs 2 oz. All same father. He is mixed nationalities some indian with A+ blood.
I’m a negative mother, with a negative Mom. My maternal grandmother was negative also. My husband was positive. I have 3 kids, 1 negative and 2 positive. My oldest daughter is negative. My son, in the middle, is positive. And my youngest daughter is positive. I have never had a miscarriage. And only with my first child was I sick during the pregnancy, just morning sickness (because I never actually get sick). I did not get the RhoGAM shot until my second child. I got a second shot of RhoGAM within 72 hours of my son being born.
I’m not a mother but the RH — issues in my family have been very unusual.
My mother was A– and my father was also A–. My mother had 5 children with my father and every child turned out to be A– and all before there was a Rhogam shot with no problems. The family history on both sides apparently have always been A– and both sides of my family originate mostly from Germany. My mother got married a second time to a man with A+ and got pregnant At a time when Rhogam was available and she didn’t get the shot because the military doctor asked the question incorrectly about any prior problem pregnancies and of course her answer was no. The military hospital didn’t bother to do blood tests for my mother and my step Dad’s records showed he was A+ and they assumed since my mother had 5 prior children with NO problems, she was also A+. My baby brother nearly died and had to have a total blood replacement plus he had health issues for a long time after. They gave my mother the Rhogam shot but curiously not long after she developed breast cancer which she eventually died of. Interestingly enough when I was only 18 I had impregnated and young lady and we had moved away before I found out about it 17 years later. That young lady was A– plus she carried the mutated MTHFR gene. In the meantime I met and married a woman with O– blood and we had a child with AB– who has decided not to have children. So back to my A– daughter I didn’t find out about for many years. She met and married a nice young man who is B– also with the mutated MTHFR gene. In her first pregnancy she was given the Rhogam shot even though she didn’t need it but the doctor/hospital claimed women have lied about who the father (A+) might be. Daughter has had 3 children, all AB–. The first child came out ok without health issues that we can tell. Second grandchild, my daughter got a Rhogam again, and the daughter has had a lot of health issues and from a very young age required injections in her eyes. Third child and another Rhogam shot, came out with all kinds of health issues. Eventually the doctors looking at the 3 children have attributed the problems to both parents being carriers of the mutated MTHFR gene (I don’t have it). But many of the problems attributed to the (contaminated) Rhogam shots are problems found in the third child. One of the things I find interesting about all this is my family history and the incidences in my life where nearly 100% of the relationships have been with RH — people and continuing generations that are RH –. The 2 exceptions I’ve seen were my step Dad came from Oklahoma and my current wife is from Canada and both were A+.
I am Rh – and my mother is Rh+.
I am O- and she is A+.
I have had 4 children. And only one of them has Rh-. And that is my oldest. She has the same blood type as me. Two have A+ and my youngest is O+.
Their father is A+.
I did not receive a rhogam shot with my oldest. But I did with the other three. No miscarriages until after I had my 4th child but it was because of what happened to me in the hospital. And now I can get pregnant but I have too much scar tissue to be able to carry full term. I ended up with a hematoma in my stomach the size of a large grapefruit because the doctor caused internal bleeding when he stretched out my cervix so I would have my son earlier so he could go home and celebrate new year ….my son was born on Dec 31). Because of that I had to have emergency surgery. And I have not been able to carry full term since. So it has nothing to do with blood type on that account. And the only pregnancy issues that I really had were the fact that I have an unusually thick membrane. So my water never breaks by itself. And I learned that I could tell if I was having a girl or boy just by the different symptoms that I had. For instance. With my boys I was always sick 🤢. With my first son the vomited to much that I busted capillaries out on my face. And with my girls I would get indigestion all the time by no vomiting.
When I actually gave birth, all four of my children were what is called PURE BIRTH. I had no drugs whatsoever. No episiotomy, no cesarean… Etc.
I even refused an I.V. so that they didn’t end up giving me pitocin. My longest labor was about 14hrs long. And none of them had any problems other than what was caused by the doctors ie…. My oldest son was born with what they call ‘a veil over his head’. I had a dry birth because the doctor didn’t want to pop my sac like I told him needed to be done. 🙄🙄
So he came out and breathed in the amniotic fluid plus he had already had his first bowel movement so he breathed in the meconium also, and he was in NICU for only 9 days. And this was after they tried telling me that he probably wouldn’t make it and if he did he would have breathing problems the rest of his life. But he NEVER has had any.
But I think I answered the questions that you wanted to know. Even though after reading most of the other comments, I don’t seem to have had the same type of pregnancy and childbirth experiences that the majority has had. So I’m not sure I would be of much interest on this topic. If you have any other questions, then let me know though.
