MtDNA K remains the strongest link between the original Basque settlers and the ancient Hebrews.

This is a term often typed to come here. The data available won’t reveal what hoped. That doesn’t mean that this is it. Here is some information related and as more comes our way, it will be added:

  1. Looking at blood type frequencies of European Jews, numbers are very similar to the general populations, especially regarding rh factor.
  2. Israel‘s rh negative frequencies are reportedly low with only 10%.
  3. Ancient Hebrew burial grounds revealed unusually high percentages of blood type AB frequencies, rh factor not mentioned. https://www.rhesusnegative.net/staynegative/blood-types-ancient-hebrews/
  4. MtDNA of Proto-Basques is close to that of ancient Hebrews and much of Jewish populations today. https://www.rhesusnegative.net/staynegative/is-there-a-basque-jewish-rh-negative-connection/
  5. A small study of Karaite Jews revealed a gene frequency of 0.53 making it around 28% rh negatives among them. https://www.rhesusnegative.net/staynegative/are-53-of-karaite-jews-rhesus-negative/
  6. 18-33% rh negative frequency among Sinai Peninsula Bedouins shine new interest on y-DNA connection to Cohanim Jews.
Little known fact:
While King Tut’s y-DNA haplogroup R1b indicates Yamnaya ancestry, his mtDNA haplogroup K is of additional interest related to this post.
