Remember the claim from years ago that people with blood type O negative are immune to HIV/AIDS?
I have since dug up a few studies showing low, yet present frequencies of Rh negatives among HIV and AIDS patients.
That includes blood type O negative.
There is, however a big problem:
Those studies were all from Africa and Asia.
As we have learned, most Africans considered Rh- actually have the D antigen present, yet inactive or they carry a nonsense mutation falling into the Partial D category.
There is a chance that ALL Subsaharan and mainland Africans are NOT Rh-, unless they get it from an ancestor/ancestors from up north.
So how about the studies from the Indian subcontinent?
While Partial D outweighs in Africa, many Asians with an “Rh+ blood type” are actually Weak D. The original SE Asians may have been 100% Rh+ (D and weak D), unless ancestors from the west and/or up north (Russia) imported a true D gene deletion.
Therefore, I have not yet been able to eliminate and debunk the claim that people with blood type O negative are immune to HIV/AIDS.
One thing is for sure:
There is at least a level of resistance.
As usual:
I am.always searching for additional research and whatever comes my way, will be included on this blog if valid and related.
