An occipital bun is a prominent bulge or projection of the occipital bone at the back of the skull. It is important in scientific descriptions of classic Neanderthal crania.
This term has not been translated into most languages yet as it is rare amongst people today. Personally, I have it, and I know of quite a few rhesus negative people who also have it.
This is why I am interested:
Do you have an occipital bun?
Do the rhesus negatives in your family have it?
If you are up for it, find out your friends’ blood types and whether or not they have one.
You might wind up being surprised by the results.
Am not sure that I have that, lol it’s hard to tell with all the hair I have growing on top jajaja sorry. I know one thing for sure, I have a thick skull. Literally.
I was hit from behind with a cast iron frying pan, (someone tried to use that as a method of eliminating me) and the Doctor told me the reason I was alive was because the thickness of our skulls varies. Meh, I had no clue, so I had to believe him. There’s something to chew on huh. Anyhow I was hit exactly in that area to the left of my brain stem. If the blow had gone there I would not be writing this. Have a great day, love your research.
I have it. My 3 brothers have it. Plus we all have unusually large heads, like 11.78 or more.
Oh and we are all O-
Yes I do …
I’m O negative and I do have one so does my mother and sister both A negative and my father who is O neg. My entire family are negs.
O Positive
Yes, I have one. It’s very obvious when my hair is shaved.
Have you had a DNA test done? If so: What percentage of Neanderthal DNA did they tell you you carry?
I have one, and 23andMe DNA analysis says I have more neanderthal DNA than 96.1% of other customers.
Did they give you a percentage?
I have one and so do my children. I’m just finding out that there’s a name for this.
I have one , I am A neg. I have had a DNA test done, and it said: “All together, your Neanderthal ancestry accounts for less than ~2 percent of your DNA”.
I have the one on the right photo.
You just described my husband’s skull to a T and he is A+. I an A- and I don’t have the occipital bun, but I do have the large nasal cavity. He has every trait though. Interesting!!
I have pretty large one, and a photographic memory. I paint caves
Sou A negativo.Eu não tenho o coque occipital, meus 5 irmãos RH positivo também não tem.
I have a pronounced bun. I am blood type A+. Had approximate 2% Neanderthal DNA according to my DNA test.
I have a very prominent one. I keep my hair long now but I used to shave my head and would hear “you’ve got a huge bump on the back of your head” constantly. I have family that comes from the mountains of East Tennessee and fall into the “Melungoen” category, which is a tri-racial group of people that consisted of a Europen, African and Native American mix, although unless you’re pretty keen on the signs you’d just call me white. The last time my IQ was tested it was 154. I don’t know how much weight that holds but there it is.
Hello all. I, too, am from East Tennessee and of similar racial/ethnic background- 90% Northern European with African American ancestors during the early 1800’s and again during late 1800’s and even less Cherokee during the 1800’s. I have the occipital bun, O negative blood type, and I have tested in the 135-145 range for IQ.
Hope this information is helpful. Seems interesting to me.
My barber used to ask me what happened to my head.
I have a pretty big occipital bun and I am O neg. I’m curious, has anyone with an occipital bun been diagnosed with autism?
Define autism
broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication… Special interests, sensory processing disorder…
I definitely have an occipital bone. I always thought it was quite weird because the top of my head is like a bump. I am Rh factor B- my background is 1% Neanderthal. I’m Ashkenazy my background is Israel, Russia & tu Poland….
