His blood type could have been a weakly expressing B+, i.e. A Bel blood type can look like an O+ on a traditional blood typing test just as a Del blood type might be mistaken for an O RH- blood type. There are also OB+ and BO+ blood types.
OB being what, a weak B expression?
Weak B would usually be given only type O blood while being able to donate to blood type B, but not O. Same as weak D people get transfused with Rh negative blood and their blood is only given to Rh positives.
I think it was just an error in reporting. As you can see from this video information was coming in but they were not sure what was correct. Also I am not sure if this is true, but I read that the attending physicians were just trying to keep him technically alive long enough to receive the last rites, per Jackie’s request. He couldn’t be saved, so would it have mattered at that point which type he received?
I will watch more of the long video as it is in real time, not sure the exact time it started, but they claimed JFK was admitted to the hospital still alive. That was around 12:38, yet by 1 pm he was pronounced dead. The report of the blood transfusion with type B came in around 20 minutes later.
OK, at 18 minutes into the video, there is a time stamp of 2:14 pm EST which would be 1:14 in Dallas. By that time Kennedy was already pronounced dead, but they stated he was in critical condition. The claim that blood type B+ blood was transfused came around 3 minutes after that.
