It may seem so, but we are not. We simply seem to read the signs quite well. There is a difference between having health issues and “being unhealthy”. Just like there is a difference between feeling sadness and being full-on depressed. Every stage is a warning sign towards what can happen if we ignore it.
… we simply react quicker to whatever is bad for everyone. Listen to the warning signs everywhere. Here is one example:
Although manufacturers have long since abandoned using asbestos products as insulation, the material was once widely used as insulation for heating and air conditioning systems. Because asbestos is most dangerous when airborne, these outmoded air conditioning systems pose a significant public health hazard. By and large, campaigns to identify and replace air conditioning systems using this toxic material have been successful. However, many systems still remain, often unbeknownst to their owners.
I wasn’t “being unhealthy” or “too sensitive”. I simply listened to my body rather than complaining about not being able to sleep. The cause is key. And recognizing the cause may have given me a few additional years to live.
Wow thank you Mike. Just last week I had lunch at an Indian restaurant where it was very cold due to air conditioning. I started to feel sick and could not eat the food. As I was driving I noticed I felt like i was coming down with the flu. In 30 minutes I felt fine. I told myself it was the AC which made me sick. I have recognized that AC makes me sick for years. As a child I never grew up with AC as we lived near the ocean. In my twenties I started working as a teacher in a school where I felt flu-like symptoms from AC. Also while traveling I have stopped in fast food places where I feel congested and sick due to the AC within minutes. I dont feel sick from window AC units and Iove fans. I lived in Arizona in an adobe house with fans and felt fine. When I would enter many places with central AC I felt sick. Thank you for the confirmation!
i’m incredibly sensitive to smells…can’t tolerate molds. as always regarding AC units – commercial or home window type: i really don’t think people clean these as well or as often as they should. they do develop black mold around & on the fan that moves the air (at least they do this w/ the home window units i use). i know, i clean the ones i use before every season here in NY State. on another issue: sensitivity – i’m way too sensitive in many ways, although i seem to be able to handle more pain than just about anyone i know/have known. being too sensitive is a common trait among the very bright. just dealin’ w/ and accepting things & myself as well as i can, for as long as i’m able. living a satisfying life is still what i’m all about.
