A typical explanation found in the scientific literature for the evolution of light hair is related to the evolution of light skin, and in turn the requirement for vitamin D synthesis and northern Europe’s seasonal less solar radiation. Lighter skin is due to a low concentration in pigmentation, thus allowing more sunlight to trigger the production of vitamin D. In this way, high frequencies of light hair in northern latitudes are a result of the light skin adaptation to lower levels of solar radiation, which reduces the prevalence of rickets caused by vitamin D deficiency. The darker pigmentation at higher latitudes in certain ethnic groups such as the Inuit is explained by a greater proportion of seafood in their diet and by the climate which they live in, because in the polar climate there results in more ice or snow on the ground and reflects the solar radiation onto the skin, making this environment lack the conditions for the person to have blond, brown or red hair, light skin and blue, grey or green eyes.

I have strawberry blond hair…my eye color is light but depending on what I wear due to hetero chromatic eyes…it changes. Yesterday someone complemented my stunning green eyes???I said there blue, and debate went through several shades..until no one really could pinpoint a specific color….which I think is kind of interesting. During discussions of origin on RH negative research…I did ponder on the dark skin insults. I was led by our skin tones and hair tones that we originated from the north. I can say personally, unless forests were present for shade, I would burn under direct sun. I find extremes in heat and cold intolerable. My autoimmune disorder could play a part…SLE…As I age my skin and eyes very sensitive to sun. I spent 20 minutes at beach and left blistered. This suggests If subjected to direct sun I would not survive for long. My hair is a mixture of blonds and reds…so…I still think we originated north but not in polar regions…So my question was answered..Far north,Far south…requires melatonin pigmentation for survival.
Sounds about right. This made me think of a study i read a while back about rh-s being more sensitive to ionized radiation. It is a very small study but it concludes with the authors stating that this study shows that blood types must be genetically inherited and left handed people were sensitive to radiation also.
