The moth myth
What did you see?
You saw a moth and…
that’s it.
But wait a minute…
what would be the evolutionary advantage?
Wouldn’t it make more sense that what animals see are two flies in a spider web, so they will avoid the web and leave the moth alone?
Yes sometimes those spots look like very large eyes spaced far apart so it looks like a preditor to the bird and he passes it by. Things are not always what they seem.

I saw the two flys. Animal camouflage is really amazing…Have been so interested in this ability…You posted about the octopus. The abilities to fool its predators..well the octopus trumps !!!But this was really cool!
it doesn’t look very appetizing to me (it looks sort of cute though), which may be helpful for it’s survival…and birds, as one type of predator of it, do have good eyesight. maybe it doesn’t look good to them either.
