Radio, TV, Online. Channel Hopping, Site Hopping, Newsletters, l have news plus magazine programmes on all day being long retired (since 2005) and old movies if l’m bored. I stopped buying paper mags and newspapers because l’m housebound, and discovered ways of learning more. They’re not so good on obituary notices though. I’m discovering old friends from childhood died ten plus years ago by chance. It’s not brilliant outliving them, you regret not saying goodbye. Good job l know we meet again in God’s presence. For some reason known only to themselves, local papers who went online decided to cease publishing them.
I gather news from different forums, different websites. Avoid falling into the social media fanfare, bandwagoning, and fear mongering. I regularly read local news, national, and international news (online). Often, I compare and contrast a news story to gain the middle ground, this is not so much intentional as it’s second nature. My brain is continually asking more questions or desiring further insights into a story.
I can’t stand unverified information, or MSM “unnamed” sources. A rule of thumb is being mindful of politically motivated news sources, and limiting the amount of unwarranted clicks to their websites. Their not worth my time or the traffic. I haven’t watched tradtional television in 15 years, this includes cable news. I may watch a news clip here and there, but it’s often short and unnecessary. MSM continues to be a circus of infotainment. Disappointing journalism has become this, but not surprising.
There’s a real value to news/facts/information, and I’ve loved seeing the internet expand since I was a teen. The issues of censorship, however, have disappointed me greatly. I want to hear both sides of an argument, or discussion. Even if I do not agree, or want to hear it- it’s part of being human. We will see and hear things in the real world we don’t like or are offended by, you cannot sugar-coat the world. And for those sugar-coating this does no favors for themselves or others. It’s insulting. I feel outlandish censoring and controlling of the narrative are counterproductive and in the end, dangerous.
I enjoy podcasts, and listening to lectures (from universities/individuals/organizations) about current events, economic trends, to historical information. I always have something I’m researching or interested in, so news collection is endless. Gathering from numerous sources and places on the internet, where I can gather real information based on factual evidence, testimony, and historical application.
This isn’t always easy, and often you have to set aside a news story missing factual information. Opinions are not sufficient to make a decision. As the truth exists with or without our permission, even if glazed over with feelings. Eventually the truth will surface, and this is what matters. Even if society has moved onto the next fearful panic.
There’s no “one site” I use for a primary source, but this makes the research and journey all the more intriguing and worthy of paying attention to.
I’m the same, l only believe what a number of sources tell me on news, since if the wide variety l use agree, it must be right, as l like exploring opposites.
