Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946, at Jamaica Hospital in the borough of Queens in New York City, the fourth child of Fred Trump, a Bronx-born real estate developer whose parents were German immigrants, and Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, an immigrant from Scotland.
Born in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, Mary Trump emigrated to the United States in 1930 and became a naturalized citizen in March 1942
Her paternal grandparents were Alexander MacLeod and Ann MacLeod; her maternal grandparents were Donald Smith and Mary MacAulay. They were from the locations of Vatisker and South Lochs, respectively. Donald died at sea aged 34 when his sailing ship sank, a common fate for men in the region which was dependent on fishing.
Donald Trump was named after him.
We all know the persona.
But who is the person?
He frequently references his late brother:
Trump has called golfing his “primary form of exercise” but usually does not walk the course. He considers exercise a waste of energy, because exercise depletes the body’s energy “like a battery, with a finite amount of energy.”
While some have claimed relations to other presidents and royals via his mother, there is no evidence to support this.
I agree with Trump on alcohol, don’t ever touch the stuff. When your Irish Granddad, dead before your birth, in you mother’s childhood, and your English husband, who carries a Welsh Surname,, dies before your children grow, and who never met each other, both die badly of alcohol abuse, after violence and neglect to families, and have a personal past and present impact on your life, like mine, you know it’s not the fount of good, but the poison of generations. Believe it or not, it both affects and colours every family life, until your death finally wipes it out. Well, that’s what l’m hoping for, if the daughter who copied her dad, remains teetotal, after almost destroying her liver forever. Wise words from a much maligned man.
